TRAINING FAQs
Are St John training courses accredited?
Yes. Selected courses are accredited by relevant professional bodies, including the Health and Welfare SETA (HWSETA), the Quality Council for Trades and Occupations (QCTO), and the Resuscitation Council of Southern Africa (RCSA). This ensures that our training meets national standards and is recognised for professional and compliance purposes.
Can individuals take part in training, or is it only for organisations?
Both! We offer training for individuals who want to gain first aid, healthcare, or safety skills — as well as tailored group training for schools, companies, and organisations.
Do you offer training nationally?
Yes. St John has training centres in six provinces across South Africa, and we regularly conduct off-site training for corporate and community groups.
Do I need prior experience or qualifications to do first aid training?
No prior experience is needed. Our courses are designed to be accessible for everyone — from complete beginners to those refreshing their skills.
Will I receive a certificate after training?
Yes. All successful participants receive a certificate of competence for the level of training completed. This certificate is valid for 2 years and is accepted by employers and authorities where accredited first aid training is required.
How long is a first aid course?
This depends on the level of training. For example, First Aid Level 1 typically runs over 2 days, while more advanced or specialised training may take longer. Contact your local St John centre for specific dates and durations.
Can St John provide training at our company or school?
Yes! We regularly deliver on-site training at workplaces, schools, community centres and events. Get in touch with your local St John office to arrange a group booking.
