Stuart Waetzel

Non Executive Director and Chairman / Chancellor

Holds BCom from the University of the Witwatersrand, a National Higher Diploma in Cost and Managerial Accounting from Vaal University of Technology, a National Higher Diploma in Taxation from the University of South Africa, a Higher Diploma in Taxation Law from Wits University, and a Higher Diploma in Banking Law from University of Johannesburg. Stuart has more than 26 years of corporate governance experience with Standard Bank. He joined The Order of St John South Africa in 1983, and was appointed Chancellor of the Priory in 2024. In 2025, he was promoted to the rank of Bailiff Grand Cross, the highest honour within the global Order of St John.

Edward Daniels

Non Executive Director and Vice Chancellor

Edward holds a Doctor of Education, a Master of Education in Adult Education, and a Bachelor of Arts together with a Diploma in Theology. Ordained in the Anglican Church of Southern Africa, he served faithfully for over three decades in parish and diocesan ministry, culminating in his consecration as Bishop of the Diocese of Port Elizabeth in 2019. Dr Daniels has a deep commitment to theological education, leadership formation, and the nurturing of reflective practitioners, having lectured at Nelson Mandela University and contributed to academic writing and research supervision. His ministry has been marked by a heart for people, a concern for the life of the Church, and a desire to see faith lived out with integrity in the world. Edward now continues in retirement to offer mentorship, teaching, and wise counsel in service of the wider community.

Mark Dytor

Non-Executive Director

Holds a National Higher Diploma in Metalliferous Mining, a Blasting Certificate of Competency, and a Programme for Management Development (PMD). Mark is the Chief Executive, Executive Director and shareholder of Dytor Capital and past CEO of AECI Ltd. He brings extensive executive leadership and commercial experience. His expertise includes strategic leadership, investment, governance and business development.

Marna Roets

Non Executive Director and Chairman of the Audit and Risk Committee

Chartered Accountant CA(SA)with an accomplished career spanning executive leadership, corporate governance and strategic risk management. She has held numerous executive positions throughout her career, including serving as Chief Operating Officer for both Stanbic Bank and Barclays. Marna currently serves as a member of the Audit and Risk Committee of AECI Limited and is the Chair of the Audit and Risk Committee of The Order of St John South Africa. Her extensive experience in finance, governance, operational leadership and risk oversight supports the Order’s commitment to excellence, accountability and sustainable organisational growth.

Elton Dorkin

Non-Executive Director

Holds an MBA, an MBChB and a Diploma in Occupational Health. He serves as Chief Medical Officer for Rio Tinto and before that was Chief Medical Officer as Anglo American. His professional expertise spans occupational medicine, corporate health, medical governance and executive leadership.

Mandy Toubkin

Non-Executive Director and Chairman of the Clinical Governance Committee

Mandy Toubkin has over 35 years of experience with Netcare and holds a Master of Science (MSc) in Emergency Medicine, supported by extensive postgraduate qualifications in trauma, critical care, paediatric nursing, midwifery, hospital management, disaster management, and emergency healthcare. She has served as Netcare’s General Manager for Emergency, Trauma, Transplant, Disaster Management and Corporate Social Investment. As Chairman of the Clinical Governance Committee, Mandy will oversee the Committee’s work, providing critical clinical governance expertise and strategic insights to both the Board and the Executive Committee.

Paul Stander

Executive Director and CEO

He holds a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from the University of South Africa and a Bachelor of Commerce in Accounting and Economics from University of the Witwatersrand. Prior to leading The Order of St John South Africa, he built an extensive career in corporate transformation, executive project management, and financial leadership. He served in senior PMO, transformation, and finance roles at leading organisations including South African Airways, Telkom, Anglo American, and Sage Enterprise, where he held the position of Chief Financial Officer.

Kimberley Gounden

Executive Director and CFO

Chartered Accountant CA(SA) who holds a BCom in Accounting from the University of KwaZulu-Natal, graduating summa cum laude. She completed her articles with PWC. Kim has worked in group finance for Tiger Brands and joined The Order of St John South Africa in 2023 as Financial Manager. In 2024 she was promoted to Chief Financial Officer. She has led significant improvements in financial governance and internal controls, helping the organisation achieve its purpose.
