Applicants MUST have more than 10 years’ specialist experience in Occupational Health and Safety, specifically within the First Aid training environment.

This is an absolute and non-negotiable requirement for this position. Applicants who do not have MORE THAN 10 YEARS of relevant specialist Occupational Health and Safety and First Aid training experience will NOT be considered for this role and will NOT be invited for an interview.

This is a governance leadership role, undertaken primarily on a volunteer, non-executive basis, and is suited to an individual motivated by public service, contribution to a mission-driven organisation, and the strengthening of good governance in the not-for-profit sector. Where applicable, a modest committee chair fee and/or reimbursement of reasonable expenses may be provided in line with organisational policy and the requirements of good
governance.

Required Experience and Competencies

Candidates should demonstrate:

  • Sennior executive or board-level experience in finance, audit, risk management, or
    governance
  • Strong understanding of audit, assurance, and enterprise risk management frameworks
    (e.g. ISO 31000)
  • Experience chairing, or serving as a senior member of, audit and/or risk committees
  • A professional qualification such as CA(SA), CPA, CFA, or equivalent (advantageous)
  • High levels of independence, integrity, and sound judgment\
  • The ability to engage constructively with Board members, executive management, auditors,
    and assurance providers
  • Experience in the non-profit, healthcare, or public-interest sector would be an advantage
