Mr Paul Henry Stander OStJ

Paul Stander was appointed CEO in January 2021. Paul joined the group from having spent time in various consultancy roles for large organisations including software, mining, telecommunications and aviation, where he helped lead transformation teams across people, process and technology

He previously was a CFO for Sage Enterprise. Before Sage , Paul was a Financial Director for the Michel Herbelin South Africa. Paul has an MBA from Unisa and a BCom in accounting and economics from WIts.​

CHIEF OPERATING OFFICER

Brig Gen (ret) Alan Luck SM, MMM, OStJ

B Com (Hons)

General Luck was appointed as COO in January 2019 after retiring from the military. Alan brings more than 43 years military experience served both operationally and in management and support positions over the years, after serving in a wide variety of roles and posts ranging from unit level to Defense Headquarters level.

During his time at St John, resulting from of his diverse background, he has provided guidance regarding security, support and the logistic environments and is passionate and committed to supporting the organisation in its quest to serve the sick and the poor. He is well aware and motivated to pursue his focus on giving back to society, as part of his social responsibility, through St John after providing a lifetime of dedicated service in the military.

He obtained his B Mil at the University of Stellenbosch and his B Com (Hons) through UNISA. He also holds a Management Certificate from the Stellenbosch Business School (previously USB).

CHIEF FINANCIAL OFFICER

Kimberley Gounden

CA(SA), BCom Accounting

Kimberley Gounden CA(SA) is a member of the South African Institute of Chartered Accountants who graduated Summa Cum Laude from the University of Kwa Zulu Natal. She completed her articles at a top 4 audit firm and has a background in investment accounting and JSE listed group accounting.

 

With a passion for nurturing the next generation she spends her free time as a children’s church leader at her local church.

EYE CARE DIRECTOR

Fatima Hoosen MStJ

Fatima is a seasoned Community Optometrist with a strong commitment to improving eye health in underserved communities.

With a focus on creating accessible and affordable eye care, Fatima has worked diligently on the front lines of numerous community projects collaborating with major stakeholders to gain invaluable operational experience.

 

Fatima has recently transitioned into more strategic roles, where she contributes her insights and expertise to enhance the provision and management of eye health care services.

TRAINING DIRECTOR

Saroj Rajoo OStJ

BEd (Cum Laude), HDip (ABET), MDP

Having joined the St John team in 2006, Saroj has over 17 years of experience. With qualifications in Education and Management, she heads up the Training department for St John SA and has successfully taken the organisation through several SETA verifications, where St John remains one of the leaders in First aid and Homecare training.

Saroj is committed in serving not only the organisation, but through our training, serve the broader community with excellence and integrity.

Mr Christopher Ross Martin MStJ

MBA, BCom Communications

Chris is a seasoned, consultative professional with more than 20 years of business development and account management experience. He has worked in various industries from media research and sales training to project management within the non-profit space.

Chris is passionate about Social Enterprise and how companies can achieve and measure social impact through community driven projects. He completed his MBA at GIBS and his BCom at the University of Pretoria.

Ronwynne Fourie CStJ

Ronwynne started her Registered Professional Nursing Career in the Public Sector where she trained and practiced for 19 years, before venturing out into the private sector as Occupational Health Nurse Practitioner.

Ronwynne heads the Stella Londt Retirement Village in Port Elizabeth as Managing Director, her 17 years of management experience as part of the Order of St John coupled with her multiple Nursing qualifications add value to the holistic approach required for this position

Marija Spasevski

With over a decade of expertise in events and marketing, Marija brings a comprehensive understanding of marketing campaigns, strategic planning, and project management to her role as Marketing Director.

Since 2012, she has successfully conceptualised and executed events across various scales, from intimate corporate gatherings to large-scale productions, demonstrating versatility in event management and marketing strategy implementation. Marija’s approach combines traditional marketing principles with innovative event-based strategies, ensuring maximum impact and engagement across all marketing initiatives.

Beyond the boardroom, she maintains an active lifestyle that fuels her creative approach to marketing. An avid hiker, gamer and Parkrunner, Marija brings the same energy and dedication to her personal pursuits as she does to her professional endeavours, creating a well-rounded perspective that enhances her marketing expertise.

BRIGADE CHIEF COMMISSIONEr

Dr James Moodie OStJ

BSc(Hon) MD

James joined the St John Brigade in 2004 whilst still at school in Cape Town and has held various positions in the organistion since then, most recently being appointed the Chief Commissioner in 2023. In this role James oversees the running of the volunteer arm of the Order of St John in South Africa.

James is a qualified medical doctor and works in community health and health impact assessments across Africa. He also holds an honours qualification in biodiversity and ecology from the University of Stellenbosch.

HUMAN RESOURCES DIRECTOR

Yolandé Oosthuizen MStJ

Dip

Yolandé Oosthuizen began her career at Nedcor Ltd (now Nedbank Ltd) in 1994 as a typist and data capture clerk, later moving into a Personal Assistant role in 1996. She advanced to HR Officer in 2000 and became HR Manager in 2007 within Nedbank’s Group Technology division.

After a break to focus on her family, she joined The Order of St John South Africa as HR Manager. She now serves as Head of Human Resources, leveraging her extensive experience in HR leadership.
