Clear vision is essential for learning, independence, and quality of life. At St John, we are committed to making eye care accessible to all, which is why we partnered with Hope School to provide free comprehensive eye tests for learners with physical disabilities. Through this initiative, we identified 30 children in need of prescription glasses - an intervention that will help them engage more fully in their education and daily activities. This project reflects our ongoing dedication to community health and ensuring that every child has the opportunity to see a brighter future.

Why This Programme Matters

The Master Trainer Programme forms part of a broader campaign to:

  • Showcase South Africa’s leadership in first aid training innovation and delivery.
  • Standardise training globally through a shared syllabus, assessment tools, and quality measures—adaptable to local contexts but united by consistent outcomes.
  • Scale sustainable impact by enabling more trainers and institutions to deliver high-quality instruction.
  • Empower master trainers as ambassadors of clinical excellence and community education.

Following Cape Town, future editions are planned for Johannesburg, Kenya, and London, reinforcing a truly global commitment to consistent, high-impact first aid training.

Building a Safer World, Together

By investing in master trainers, we’re investing in communities. This programme will strengthen our collective ability to save lives, educate effectively, and build resilient systems of care—locally and globally.

Stay tuned as we share updates and insights from this exciting week of collaboration, learning, and leadership.

A Global Step Forward in First Aid Education

St John South Africa is proud to host the inaugural Master Trainer Programme from 24–30 May 2025 in Cape Town, a transformative initiative designed to unify and elevate first aid education across the global St John network.

This pioneering train-the-trainer pilot will welcome participants from South Africa, Eswatini, Zambia, and Zimbabwe, supported by a powerful team of facilitators from both local and international offices. The programme marks a milestone in our ongoing efforts to ensure that lifesaving skills are taught consistently, effectively, and with community impact at heart.
