First Aid Level 2 is an intermediate course that builds on the skills gained in Level 1, offering a more in-depth understanding of first aid procedures and increased practical experience. This course is designed for those who wish to be fully prepared to handle both life-threatening and non-life-threatening emergencies.
COURSE CONTENTS
Principles of First Aid and Safety – Understanding the core principles and ensuring the safety of both the first aider and the patient.
Emergency Scene Management – Effectively assessing and managing emergency situations.
Primary and Secondary Examination – How to assess a patient and perform a thorough physical examination.
Vital Signs – Monitoring vital signs such as pulse, respiration, and temperature.
Artificial Respiration for Adults, Children, and Infants – Techniques for providing artificial respiration across different age groups.
Choking – Recognising and managing choking in adults, children, and infants.
CPR for Adults, Children, and Infants (One Rescuer) – Performing CPR for different age groups with one rescuer.
Shock, Unconsciousness, and Fainting – Identifying and treating shock, unconsciousness, and fainting.
Soft Tissue Injuries; Wounds and Bleeding – Managing wounds, controlling bleeding, and treating soft tissue injuries.
Fractures – Identifying and immobilising fractures correctly.
Head and Spinal Injuries – Managing head and spinal injuries with care to prevent further damage.
Joint Injuries and Rescue Transportation – Treating joint injuries and using safe methods of transporting casualties.
Chest Injuries – Handling chest injuries, including rib fractures and punctured lungs.
Hand Injuries – Treating injuries to the hands and fingers.
Eye Injuries – Managing eye injuries, from foreign bodies to chemical burns.
Multiple Injury Management – Handling multiple injuries in a single patient by prioritising care.
Pelvic and Abdominal Injuries – Identifying and stabilising pelvic and abdominal injuries.
Environmental Illnesses and Injuries – Recognising and treating conditions like heatstroke and hypothermia caused by environmental factors.
Burns – Providing appropriate treatment for burns, ranging from first to third-degree.
Poisoning, Bites, and Stings – Managing cases of poisoning, as well as insect and animal bites and stings.
Chest Pains and Paralysis – Identifying and treating chest pains, such as those associated with heart attacks, and addressing paralysis.
Epilepsy (Fits) – Providing care for individuals experiencing seizures.
By completing this course, learners will be equipped with a comprehensive range of first aid skills, preparing them to manage emergencies effectively and confidently.
